Terms of Service

1. The service

GradingMate (“the Service”, “we”, “us”) provides AI-assisted grading tools for schools and tutoring centres of any curriculum. Each school is provisioned its own isolated, subdomain-branded environment on our multi-tenant grading platform.

2. Accounts & schools

• You must provide accurate account and school details and keep your credentials secure.
• Each administrator account is tied to a single school organisation.
• You are responsible for activity under your account and for your teachers’ use of the Service.

3. Free trial & billing

• New schools start with a 3-day free trial including 8 grading credits. You can cancel anytime from your billing page.
• After the trial, your subscription continues on the plan you selected (Starter, Pro or School) and the billing period you chose — monthly or annual — billed in CAD.
• Each school is billed independently through our payments provider, with its own invoices and billing portal.
• 1 credit grades 1 submission. Monthly credits reset each billing period and do not roll over. When your monthly cap is reached, new grading pauses until you top up, upgrade or the period renews; uploading and reviewing already-graded work is not blocked.
• Credit top-up packs are one-time purchases made from the billing page. Top-up credits never expire and are drawn on only after your monthly allotment is used.
• You may cancel at any time from the billing page; access continues until the end of the paid period.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Service, including by attempting to access another school’s data, uploading unlawful content, reverse-engineering the platform, or reselling access without authorisation.

5. Your content & student work

Student submissions, marking schemes and related material you upload remain yours. You grant us a limited licence to process that content solely to provide the Service — including sending it to our AI provider to generate marks and feedback. See the Privacy Policy and Data Processing Addendum for details.

6. AI-assisted marks

Marks and comments produced by the Service are assistive. A qualified educator remains responsible for reviewing output and for any final grade reported to a student, parent or ministry. The Service surfaces low-confidence results in a review queue for exactly this reason.

7. Availability & changes

We work to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may update features, and will give reasonable notice of material changes to these terms.

8. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms. On termination, your data is handled as described in the Data Processing Addendum.

9. Disclaimers & liability

The Service is provided “as is”. To the extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability is limited to the fees you paid in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. This reflects where GradingMate is established and does not limit the Service to any particular curriculum or country — schools worldwide may use it, subject to their own local obligations.
